Leicestershire First is a charity that was set up to promote leadership, excellence and citizenship on a non-denominal basis in the community of Leicestershire. The primary objective was to build, support and sustain commitment to a more cohesive community within the City and County. Leicestershire First aimed to promote shared values, strengthen intercultural links and bring communities together through recognition and celebration of Leicestershire’s achievements, while emphasising the importance of social and community giving.

Leicestershire First was launched in June 2008 with an event organised by HeadStorm Marketing at Leicestershire County Council where over 150 dignitaries and business and community leaders were in attendance.

After the launch we were involved with the press and radio to promote the charity. The charity operated out of HeadStorm Marketing offices with dedicated telephone answering and administration support provided by us.

The charity ran 9 Awards throughout the year which covered Young Achiever; Community Builder; Environment; Leadership; Achievement in Sport; Volunteering; Courage; Achievement in Arts and Music and a Judges Special Award. We did all of the work to promote and raise awareness of the Awards and in effect acted as ambassadors for the charity as well as providing the organisation and planning support that it required.

We reported regularly to the person that had established the charity, providing weekly reports on applications, media coverage, activities and enquiries. Regular meetings were also held to plan and move the charity forward.
